SUMMER LACE DAY EXHIBITION
A highlight of our annual Summer Lace Day is an invitation to all members to bring along one piece of Bobbin Lace that they have completed since last year’s exhibition. If you are unable to attend but still want to submit a piece of lace, then please contact one of the committee or ask a friend to bring it for you.
Your lace entries will be put on display.
Everyone attending will be given voting slips to nominate the piece they like the most in each category.
The Categories are:
The Hilda Marston Award
Hilda was a member of the society and the trophy was donated by her family.
Open to all members except teachers or anyone who has won this award or the David Hirst award at any of the last 3 exhibitions.
The David Hirst Award
David Hirst was the father of Louise West and a bobbin maker.
This category is open to teachers, anyone who has won the Hilda Marston Award at one of the last 3 exhibitions and anyone who wishes to exhibit at a higher level.
The Novice Award
This is sponsored by our current President Jean Ashbery.
This category is especially for children and beginners.
For new lacemakers who have been making lace for less than 2 years AND for anyone who has been making a new type of lace for less than 1 year
There is a category for everyone, so don’t be shy, enter your work for the rest of us to enjoy. This exhibition shows off what pleases us in our craft and gives others fresh ideas as to what they can attempt and the inspiration to try something new.
