This year our Summer Lace Day was held at the Becket School in Wilford on Saturday 26th July. A wonderful day was had by all!!
It was full of fun, laughter, nattering, spending money(!), eating cake, drinking tea and of course, when we had time, a little bit of lacemaking 😊
As is standard for our Summer Lace Day, we had a lovely exhibition of members’ work and we voted for our favourites in the each of the annual awards categories.

Our speaker this time was Baroness Bolsover. She was very resplendent in her beautiful Victorian outfit and was absolutely hilarious whilst demonstrating the Do’s and Don’ts of Afternoon Tea.
Many of us dressed up in our posh frocks with a hat or fascinator ready for the occasion we and all took our best cup, saucer, teaspoon and a napkin so we could learn the etiquette of how to use them all in ‘polite society’.
Hopefully we all learnt a lot (as well as laughed a lot) and are now the Crème de la Crème of a Tea Party.
After the talk we got to put it all into practice with tea, homemade scones and some anniversary cakes which were all extremely yummy!! 😋
Our Suppliers were Margaret Wall, Mainly Lace, Tree Carcass Tweaking and The Bead Shop Nottingham and despite saying I’m not buying anything, of course I did 🤣
